Secret Santa

So, it's 8:00 at night and I'm just getting around to writing my post.  Ugh!  I've been working crazy long hours the past few weeks and I still have more work to do tonight but wanted to make sure I got this post in!

Kym, over at Travel Babbles was our hostess with the most-est for this awesome gift exchange and I am so grateful because this was so fun for a new blogger! I sent my gift to Hannah, and my Secret Santa was Kassi.

Kassi did a fantastic job with her gift! Give me scentsy, and I'm a happy girl!
First off, her personalized stationary is so cute!  I definitely need to invest in some!

Okay y'all, if you drink wine or champagne go get yourself some of these NOW.  They are A-MAZ-ING.  You just put it on top of your bottle and then twist the top until it seals.  I opened a bottle of champagne, used one of these bad boys...and a WEEK later we still had bubbles!  Seriously, I love these things.

She also sent me some fabulous jewelry from Tori Spelling's line.  These pieces are awesome because you can mix and match the bottom  with any tops, so you can take an earring from a hoop one day to a dangle the next.  Such a fabulous idea!

Kassi, I can not thank you enough for your thoughtful gift, I love everything and hope you have a wonderful Christmas!!!!

If you want to see what I got Hannah, go on over to Hannah, Here! and check it out!

A Mom's Stream Of Consciousness

Hey Hey Hey, look who decided to show up today!  I absolutely LOVE my job, but the last few weeks have definitely been some of the most hectic we've had.  After an extremely long day, I came home with a splitting headache and decided to get in a hot shower. Before my first foot even landed in the tub, I hear "Mom, are you in the shower?" followed by "mom, I have to go potty" "mom, can we go to Grandpa's house?" etc.  Keep in mind, Layne is home and there is no reason I should have to answer questions through the bathroom door for my entire 15 minute shower.  It really started to make me wonder when I'll be able to hop in and take a long uninterrupted shower ever again, which in turn made me think of a lot of things mom's think but don't always say.

A Mom's Stream Of Consciousness

I'm going to pretend I don't hear her and maybe she'll go back to sleep for a little longer.

Why does my husband have to stomp through the house first thing in the morning on a Saturday?  If he wakes her up, I'm going to kill him.

I'm so hungover, I wonder if it's healthy to feed my child a pop-tart for lunch? ***This actually did happen on Sunday after my office Christmas Party***

Why does she find 8347709123 things to do every time I tell her we need to hurry up and leave?

I really need to finish this project, I'll let her watch one more episode of Bubble Guppies( or 3).

There's only one more piece of chocolate left, I better hide it so I can eat it later when she's not looking.

Can she go one more day without a bath?  I'm pretty sure she didn't sweat today.

Was that stain on her shirt when I dressed her this morning?

Please let us make it from the back of Target to the bathroom in time, I really don't want to be the reason I hear "Cleanup on aisle 3"

I know it's hilarious when she repeats a bad word but DON'T laugh!

Did she wash her hands before she ate that?

I haven't given her any fruit snacks today, where did she get that???

For the love of everything good and holy, go to sleep so I can catch up on my SOA.

What app is missing from my phone?

Dueling Pianos and Kacey Musgraves

I'm about to be in for a really long night.  I'm in the midst of doing 87937 loads of laundry so that I can finish packing everyone in the house to head to Houston tomorrow after work.  On top of that, Ainsley had to stay home sick today and I've got a ton going on at work to do, so I figured why not add to my lack of productivity this evening and stop everything to blog :)  Actually I feel like I've been a horrible blogger lately so I figured I better quit slacking!

Saturday evening was pretty eventful for us, especially for our little neck of the woods. Saturday evening we had tickets to a really fun event in town with dueling pianos.  If you've ever been to Howl At The Moon, it was a lot like that but in a much smaller venue.

We left the venue a little early to head to Schroeder Hall for Kacey Musgraves!  I absolutely love her and she put on a hell of a show.  This girl can really sing and sounds even better live!  Other than freezing our tails off, we had a blast.
With one of our favorite girls...and Ainsley's favorite babysitter.

On a serious note, what the hell is up with this crazy ass weather?  We have had highs in the 40's for a week now, and that is unheard of here.  Clearly that whole global warming thing is BS right?  I'm off to fold more clothes and get ready for a weekend out of town.  Hope everyone has a fantastic Thanksgiving.

If Only My Parents Knew...

Looking back on my younger years, I was definitely a pretty good kid.  I had a lot of fun, but I told my Dad most of what was going on so I never had to worry about pesky things like a curfew.  In all honesty, if Ainsley is like me, I'm pretty sure we can handle it.  However, if she is anything like her Daddy, we're in T-R-O-U-B-L-E.   My husband was not exactly a shining example of the perfect child, but that's another post for another day.

There are a few things that my parents don't know, and hopefully they won't be too upset if they see this seeing as how all of this happened 10+ years ago(how am I that old?)!  While nothing was too crazy, I definitely could have gotten in a lot more trouble if I had gotten caught so I'm linking up with Two Thirds Hazel to spill all my secrets.

  •  The summer between my junior and senior year, we moved about 45 minutes away from where I'd grown up so I spent most of that summer driving back a few times a week to hang out with all of my friends.  One time I got pulled over on my way for speeding with a half bottle of vodka in my back seat, luckily Mr. Officer either didn't see it or didn't care because he let me go with a warning and I was headed out to the Land of Sugar (Sugar Land, TX).
  •  My first car was a 97 mustang and I would race other friends down a side street to the school parking lot, I also used to go down to Westheimer on Saturday nights with an ex-boyfriend and race my car on occasion.
  • I used to regularly skip 1st period to go eat breakfast with friends.  I was an A/B student so clearly that class wasn't too important ;)
  • I have really good hand writing so I would write notes for myself and all of my friends to get out of school early.
  • When we stayed at a hotel after prom my junior year, I told my parents that we had separate rooms and that other adults would be there.  There was not any other adults and my boyfriend and along with the presidential suite that our group had, my boyfriend and I got our own room.
So, what do your parents not know about you?

Save The Drama For Yo Mama

I can't tell you how many times I've heard the phrase "Facebook is drama" or someone has told me that they deleted their facebook because it "caused drama."  You know what causes drama? You.

Just because you got in a fight with your significant other doesn't mean you need to get on social media and blast them.  All that will do is open a door for someone who's looking for an opportunity.  If you have an ex that keeps talking to you and you don't think you should be talking to them, delete them.  Safeguard yourself and your relationship, if not you will have no one to blame but yourself.  The couples that immediately change their status to single every time they fight are probably the worst.  Normal people fight from time to time, that doesn't mean you break up every-time you fight...unless you're in middle school, in which case, carry on.

This applies to friendships as well.  If you have a fight with a friend, there is no need to put your business all over facebook or twitter.  All this will do is make it harder for you to mend fences as all of your other friends will now have a jaded view of them.

I tend to shy away from girls who use the all-to-famous line "I only have guy friends, girls are too much drama."  For one, if you've hung around a group of guys you'll notice they have just as many issues, they just deal with them differently.  Secondly, when one of those guys breaks your heart, nothing can take the place of your best girl friends, that's the kind of therapy you can't pay for.  I'm a firm believer that we all create and feed the drama in our lives.  If you are not the one creating the drama than remove the people who are. And while we're at it, please delete your vague status updates.

Let's Party

If I've learned one thing through my short time blogging, it's that bloggers sure do know how to have a good time!  I thought it would be fun to put together a lists of bloggers I'd like to party with and who knows maybe one day I'll get to meet some of them and I'll buy s
hots for everyone!  And the first to get me a hangover cure wins!

RavenI think she and the fam can come down here to Texas and we can drink our way through the day while we let the kids entertain each other!  No, but seriously Raven, Colt needs a girlfriend right?
We can enjoy some Texas vodka while we talk about how much Obama sucks and the men can take their guns out to deer camp and go shoot stuff.  I'm pretty sure it would be a fun time for all!

Whitney.  Seriously, this girl knows how to have a good time.  We can pre-game with a nice box of carboardeaux and then hit the town.  Maybe I'll even take my first shot of fireball! Honestly, I'd never even heard of Fireball until I read this lady's blog but now I definitely feel like I'm missing out!  Fireball or not, I definitely can't hang as well as I used to so I feel like I would definitely need a few recovery days in order for us to party together!

Allison.  Otherwise known to most of you as Pink Lou Lou.  Aside from being gorgeous, I love that she is such a girl's girl.  Makeup, hair, nails, she's into it all and I'm pretty sure she would not get mad at me for taking forever to do my makeup before a night out.  I love a good poof, but I'm pretty sure if I had a PLL poof my life would be forever changed.

Kym.travel-babbles.com  I'm always game to party with a world traveler, I'm sure you get pretty good at finding the best spots to eat and drink when you've lived all around the world.  We can sit around and take picture of each other since our husbands definitely won't do it for us and maybe she can even take me to my first hockey game!

Taylor.  Her blog literally has me laughing out loud every day.  Plus, she is a brunch lover like myself so we can get some early day drinking in and then head home and crash since I am getting way too old to hang anymore.  Tay, if you ever head to Texas look me up!

Juliette.  I really need to hang out with this girl just based on her twitter feed.  We can have a movie marathon weekend because her movie tweets are pretty much the greatest thing ever!!  After our movie watching we would definitely have to go to a bar because anyone who gets the bartender to make them an hombre shot is a winner in my book!

Birthday Weekend

Is this whole time change kicking anyone else's tail?  Between that and my birthday last week, I feel like I'm scrambling to keep up.

My birthday was last week, and Monday I was so exhausted from the time change I actually cancelled our dinner plans because I just wanted to go to sleep when Ainsley did.  Clearly 28 means I'm old.

The last couple weeks at work have been super crazy, but in Oil & Gas, crazy is definitely good.  Can we say job security?

Saturday night we went out with some of our good friends and my parents to celebrate the big 2-8.
It started off with a nice dinner at the Country Club with a three Mexican Martinis, yumm!

From there we went to a local bar here in town to see a Piano player from Howl at the Moon.  That was pretty dang fun considering once the piano player found out it was my birthday, he played all of my requests first and kept telling everyone he couldn't tell the birthday girl no .  :)

We left there around 12 and headed to another bar in Victoria, needless to say the birthday girl has no pictures from this point on.

My parents are cooler than yours.

 With Haylie

The got up hungover as hell bright-eyed and bushy tailed for brunch on the river at The Pumphouse.  I mean honestly, who can say no to bottomless mimosas?  Well try as I may, I could not choke down my food, so after about 4 mimosas and some good conversation this mama went home for a nap.

My bestie :)

With my baby girl.

Hopefully I can get some better stuff out this week, because last week I definitely topped the shitty blogger list!  Hope all you ladies have a fantastic week!
